Field Trip to JPL

The boys spent a day up in Pasadena at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.  Their Grandpa took them, and they seemed to have a good time.

I didn’t go, so I can’t give too many details. I know the day started with a video, and then they took a tour.

The boys liked the model of the Cassini.

Tru was fascinated with aerogel. It is a material that is 99% air.

Inside mission control…

Seeing yourself through infrared light is always fun!

Then they got a tour (from above) of the clean room. If you look closely you can see a worker in a white clean suit working in there.

Tru has been fascinated with the Mars Rover since he was a little boy. Finally he got to see a model of one.

They ended the day playing outside in the rain. It was a beautiful, rainy day yesterday; a rarity in Southern California this year.

If you are looking for a fun, educational day out, and you are in the Los Angeles area, you should plan a tour of JPL. As my youngest told me when I asked him about it “basically it was fun!”.
